About Me

Anaale…

Hi, my name is Ruthfirst, also affectionately called Anaale by close friends and family. I’m a Ghanaian woman, feminist (for the 99%), research scientist, poet, foodie and everything in between. My family hails from a little village in the Upper East Region of Ghana called Chuchuliga and belong to the Builsa ethnic group.

I am a trained nutritionist and dietitian with over 8 years’ experience in clinical and community nutrition in international settings. I have a deep penchant for research and am currently a PhD candidate at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst where I am pursuing a doctorate in public health.

My Blog…

As my tagline suggests, my blog is about “everything and nothing”. As a lover of science and the arts, I wear many hats and so find it imperative to highlight all aspects of my life, showcasing the strict dichotomies I grapple with everyday while also highlighting the blurry intersections that define who I am. As a passionate lover of food from all parts of the world, my posts may center food recipes and food photography, but on my blog I will also post reviews, poetry and general commentary on a wide variety of social issues.
